Hammond Island Rangers

Located near Hinchinbrook Island, the rangers manage 200 km of coastline and 60,000 km². This includes Wet Tropics, World Heritage and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park areas. Girringun has made extensive contributions to the cultural and natural resource values of their region including intergenerational knowledge transfer, cultural heritage protection, mapping and management, and have a TUMRA, specifying the management of dugong and marine turtle. An Indigenous Ranger Group is in operation that who manage the Land and Sea country of Girringun.
